After almost 10 years of study and resident comments from all sides the Twin Lakes Protection and Rehabilitation District has a new SPILLWAY.
Water from Lake Elizabeth travels almost one mile from the Lake Elizabeth Marina Marker to the spillway. About 0.4 miles of the distance is through a narrow channel named the Lake Elizabeth Drain. Weeds and a an occasional Bog can reduce the outflow from the lakes. In times of high water and heavy rains it is essential to monitor the flow over the spillway to ensure there is no blockage on the channel. Automatic Lake Level Montoring and maybe a camera at the Spillway is needed to reduce high water due to channel blockage.
Evasive weeds such as Eurasian Milfoil should be eliminated from the Lake Elizabeth Drain channel and inspections made often.
